Mary Rose Sammakia went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, June 27, 2021 at Wilson Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Bahgat Sammakia, and their daughter, Maryam Sammakia, her mother, Lola Daniels, her siblings, Tina Kress, Michael Daniels, Edward Daniels, Kate Gardner, Eva Becker, Florence (Florrie) Barnett, and Thomas Daniels, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary loved people, her family, music, nature, and animals. She dedicated her time and energy to help others. Above all, she wanted to leave the world better than she found it. She sang for Most Holy Rosary Church and the German Choir. She volunteered to work at many functions at her church. She also volunteered to work at Seton Catholic high School for many years, where she made numerous friends. Her work helped raise funds for countless scholarships. Mary was also an active participant in the Binghamton University's women's club where she met even more friends. Mary loved travelling around the world, especially visiting Ireland and studying her genealogy. Mary was a generous, loving, and selfless individual who left everyone around her happier with her presence.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9-10am at Most Holy Rosary Church 2596 Maine Street, Maine, NY followed by a Funeral Mass offered by Rev. Clarence Rumble and Rev. Clarence Cerwonka. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
