John G. Hiza of Endwell passed on May 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Binghamton in 1935. He grew up in Sunrise Terrace. He graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1953 and received his Bachelor of Arts in Electrical Engineering from RPI and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Pitt University. He then returned to live in Sunrise Terrace. After a few years back in the area, he became a long-time member of the percussion sections of the IBM and the Maine Community Bands. He was employed by IBM Glendale for 30 years holding various management positions. He owned his grandparents farm for many years, keeping it in the family, where he enjoyed going there, being outdoors and doing some gardening, hunting, and fishing. He also held several family reunions there. In 1991 he married his beloved Judy and moved with her and her children Michelle and Mark to a home in Endwell. John and Judy were members of the Christ the King Church in Vestal and previously belonged to other Lutheran churches in the area including Ascension Slovak Lutheran Church, the home church of both their grandparents. While members of Ascension for several years, they worked in the kitchen of the Lutheran Fellowship Club doing picnics and weddings. In 2020 John and Judy moved to a cottage in Good Shepard Village. John was predeceased by his parents John and Margret (Hrehor) Hiza. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Hiza, his daughter, Michelle Belensky (Chad Hrehor) of Johnson City, his son Mark (Erin) Belensky of Endicott, and grandchildren, Christine, and William Belensky. A private interment will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations in memory can be made to Christ The King Lutheran Church, 499 Plaza Drive, Vestal, NY.
