Robert John Carpenter, 94, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2021 and is now reunited in heaven with his wife of 59 years, Helen (Levchak) and his daughter, Marina. Robert is also predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Grace Carpenter, and his siblings and their spouses, Stanley (Thelma), Ernest (Phyllis), Frederick (Arlene and Mary), and Jean (Robert). He is survived by his children, Gregory (Barbara), Tamara, Jeffrey (Kim), and Scott (Tricia). Also surviving Robert are his ten grandchildren, Corinne (Justin), Tina (Damian), Ryan (Brindl), Justin (Brittany), Colin (Michele), Sara (Justin), Casey, Brittany, Megan, and Jacob, as well as six greatgrandchildren, Jayden, Camryn, Mave, Jade, Chloe and Allie. Many other people also held an extraordinary bond with Bob, including his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and his church "family." He was a gentle soul with a dry sense of humor, who loved spending time with his family, watching birds and gardening in the old pool.
Robert enlisted in the United States Army in 1944 and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater until 1946. In 1955, he and his brothers, Fred and Ernie, established Carpenter Brothers, where they quickly earned a reputation for the honesty and outstanding craftsmanship that went into so many homes and businesses in this area. He remained actively dedicated to the business until his retirement at age 84.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses from Lourdes at Home, for their daily care over the last four years. A special thanks goes out to Lauralee and family physician, Dr. Gehring.
Robert was a long-time member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, 53 Baxter St., Binghamton, NY 13905, where a private service was held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to his church or a random act of kindness in his memory.
