Andrew F. Lisick, 88, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, after a brief illness at Wilson Hospital.
He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-two years, Helen (Selanich) Lisick in October 2020, to whom he was truly devoted, his parents, Frank M. and Anna (Lucas) Lisick, and his brother, Frank M. Lisick Jr.
He is survived by his children, Daria A. Lisick of Binghamton; his son, Andrew M. Lisick of Johnson City; three nieces, Roma (John) Armstrong, Karen A. Lisick, Christine E. Riley and her fiancé, Brandon, great niece, Roma Marisa (Charles Stuart) Shickel, his canine buddy Colby and his coffee buddies.
He was an active member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church assisting his late wife at the church's pirohi and holubki sales. He grew up in the First Ward, a graduate of Binghamton North High, Technical Mechanical Program in 1952. He worked at Atlantic Design and then was recruited to I.B.M. and worked until his retirement as a Senior Designer. After retirement, he served his church with his late wife maintaining its beauty. He also was a dedicated employee for thirty years at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home.
He was a former member of the A.C.R.Y, St. Mark's-Philetus Lodge #1001 F. & A.M., Valley of Binghamton Scottish Rite, Kalurah Shrine, Arab Patrol, and Chapter #8 Orthodox Square Club.
Andy was named to the all-conference 1951 football team as well as being a catcher for the North High baseball team.
Channeling his inner athlete to his children as they commenced their sports endeavors, he was often quick to "adjust" the sensibilities of umpires and referees until they saw things Andy's way.
He was a devoted husband and a loving father who supported his children by going to all their athletic events and personally sacrificing financially to make sure they had an education. Andy was a gentle, quiet man who will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
As we mourn his passing, let us imagine the marvelous reunion he had when he mercifully joined Helen, his parents and brother. Andy couldn't be happier.
The family will receive friends Monday 9-10am at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton followed by a funeral service at 10am offered by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing in Andy' memory to St. Michael's Orthodox Church.
Kindly share your reflections of Andy on his guestbook at Chopyak-Scheider.com.
