Laura "Laurie" Moran

Laura “Laurie” Moran Laurie entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 19, 2025. Born on August 10, 1956, she was a source of light and joy to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Bernice St. John; her brother, Lark St. John; and her beloved cousin, Joseph Patrick. Laurie is survived by her devoted husband and favorite Marine, Anthony Moran, and her cherished sons, Joseph Marcello (Erika) and Mark Ozmani (Sarah), whom she loved beyond measure. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Theresa “Terri” (Gary) Donovan, and their children, Krista (Daniel) Little and Adam St. John (April), along with her great-nieces and great-nephew, Emily, Lillian, and Samuel. Additionally, she is survived by her nephew, Hayden St. John (Ashley), and their daughter, Lennon. She will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law, Hazel, as well as her stepchildren, Chad, AJ, and Carrie, and their families. Laurie had a heart full of warmth and a soul that saw the good in everyone. She found joy in life’s simple moments—thoughtfully choosing special gifts, sharing stories of her latest discoveries, enjoying girls’ nights at the movies, taking road trips, reconnecting with distant friends and family, and savoring a slice of baklava cheesecake at a favorite diner. Above all, she adored her sons and would have moved heaven and earth for their happiness. She found beauty in sunflowers, birdsong, her garden, vibrant red and green glassware, the music of the Beatles, and the charm of Peanuts comics. Her radiant smile and enthusiasm could light up any room. Laurie also leaves behind the father of her children and his family, especially her cherished “bonus” mom, Donna Marcello. Throughout her career, Laurie wore many hats, from her early days at Philadelphia Sales and Kost Tire to her years at the U.S. Postal Service, where she built countless friendships before retiring. A dear friend of her sister Terri once shared these words: “To experience great loss, you must first experience great love. For that, you can only be grateful.” Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect St. Binghamton.  A Funeral Mass will be offered by Rev. Arthur Kawczenko on Friday at 10am at St. Paul’s Church 282 Chenango St., Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity that speaks to your heart in Laurie’s honor.
