With mourning but filled with loving memories, we announce the passing of Dennis J. McKillop, who departed this life on Tuesday February 4th, 2026, at the age of 74. We find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his late son, Connor McKillop.
Dennis’ greatest legacy is the love he held for his family. A devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Sandra (Martin) McKillop, his two sons, Kyle Martin (Jenna) McKillop, Corey John (Carly) McKillop. His grandchildren Addison, Nathan, Carter, Grayson, Jack, and Macklin McKillop.
His extended family includes his brothers-in-law, William (Christine) Martin and Robert (Mary) Martin, his sister-in-law, Jean Brennan and his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lettie McKillop, his brother, Michael McKillop, and his in-laws, William and Leona Martin.
Dennis’ love for his family was best shown in his presence in their lives. He was a constant fixture, never missing an opportunity to host a meal, supporting his granddaughter at a dance recital, cheering on his grandsons at a hockey game, or best leading his family on adventures at Disney. These memories will carry on with his family forever.
Dennis enjoyed golfing with the Commandos, bowling with lifelong friends, and being with clients whom he cherished throughout his life. He shared a particularly deep bond with his friend Dr. Bill Marusich, a friendship cemented through golf, the Yankees, Bills games, countless dinners and years of laughter. Dennis had the unique ability to see something good in everyone while becoming a loyal friend whom they could count on.
Professionally, these characteristics extended into his career, working alongside his partners and friends Mark Macgargle, Troy Sebeck and Jim Molinaro for decades.
The family would like to thank Binghamton General Hospital I.C.U. nurses, aides, respiratory therapists and doctors, especially Dr. Thomas Martin, for their compassionate care given to Dennis during his stay.
At Dennis’ request, private services were held at the convenience of the family through the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Connor’s memory to the Propionic Acidemia Foundation 1963 McCraren Road, Highland Park, IL 60035.
