Thomas J. Mociun, 77, of Windsor, passed Monday February 9, 2026. Tom was born in Rochester NY on July 11, 1948 to the late Ralph C. and Margret F. Mociun. He is survived by his son, Thomas and Linda Wood; his sisters: Virginia Wetherbee, her daughters Emily and Allison Wetherbee-Kootsikas, and their children Sophia, Casper and Marshall; Sadie and James Osborn their children Kyle and Laura; Marian and Robert Russell, their son Ryan; Annette and Peter Goughary; James and Vonda Mociun their children Morgan and Joe Pack and Harrison Tate; twin sisters: Elisa Chrzan and Charlie Z and Andrea and Scott Hatch.
Thomas graduated from Windsor High School. He attended Kings College in PA for a short time till he was drafted in 1969. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne paratrooper unit as a sergeant where he was awarded four bronze stars. He always had plenty of stories to tell. When he returned home, he worked in construction for many years and started his own company, R.A.M. Industrial. After his business went bust, he met Linda Wood and had his son Thomas. He worked for Morlando Construction, odd jobs and worked for the Binghamton Psych Center. Shortly after, he started working for the state at OPWDD. He was beloved by all there and was known by his nicknames, Uncle Tom or Jake the plumber after a Halloween costume one year. He retired in 2015 to enjoy his passion of fixing things at home in West Windsor.
He was also a man of fine taste wine, cigars and he loved listening to jazz music. He was fond of camping with the family in Saratoga. He also visited NYC many times a year with his son always going on adventures together, visiting the tree during Christmas time, Little Italy for the feast of San Gennaro, Chinatown for Lunar New Years and he was especially fond of the Gates exhibit in central park and that orange became their favorite color.
He loved his animals as well, Lucky the goose lived on well past her time giving gifts and appearing on family T-shirts for years. Everyone knew him for his beautiful blue eyes, willingness to help everyone, his penchant for smoking and his signature majestic mustache. “When the smoke cleared and bullets stopped firing there stood Sgt. Mociun still firing.” His absence will be felt by all whose lives he touched, I love you dad, you are and always will be my best friend.
