With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Klodowski, who left this world on Tuesday evening, July 21,2026, at the Mercy House of the Southen Tier, after a long and fulfilling life, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 14, 1929, John grew up in the First Ward district of Binghamton, where he developed a deep pride in his Ukrainian heritage, a legacy he carried with him throughout his life.

A lifelong member of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Johnson City, NY, John was a man of faith and commitment. He and his beloved wife, Rose Marie Proc, whom he married in 1955, shared 70 wonderful years together, building a life centered around family, faith, and tradition.

John honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Army’s 2nd Armored Division, stationed in Mainz, Germany, from 1950 to 1952. Upon returning home, he embarked on a 36-year career at IBM Corporation, where he worked as an engraver in the Printers Division.

An avid outdoorsman, John found joy in fishing and golf, passions he pursued well into his 80s. His skill on the green was remarkable—he achieved two hole-in-ones over the years, a testament to his dedication and love for the game.

Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving children, Carol (Mark)Walling, Thomas (Monika)Klodowski, and Jean (John)Geresi; his cherished grandchildren, Stephen and Anna Walling, Nikole, Markus, and Mia Klodowscy, and Jack (Ashley) and Michael Geresi; and his great-granddaughter, Aislin who brought him endless joy.

John and Rose’s greatest pride was their family, and they found immense happiness in watching their children and grandchildren grow and succeed. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew him.

A funeral service with be concelebrated by Very Rev. Myron Oryhon and Rev. Zinovy Zharsky on Friday at 10am at  St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1 St. John’s Parkway, Johhson City where the family will receive friends from 9am until the time of the service. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church or Mercy House Hospice in his memory.  A heart felt thank you to the team at Mercy House for their compassionate care in his final days.
