Antonio Giammarino of Binghamton passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Delhi Rehab & Nursing Facility after a long bout with CIDP, Parkinson's and Dementia.
He was born on April 22, 1938, in Abruzza, Italy to his late parents, Nicolo and Amelina Giammarino. He was also predeceased by his brothers and sister, Armando, Amelina and Frank.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Angelina Giammarino; two sons; Anthony Giammarino and Domenic (Linda) Giammarino; his daughter, Ann Marie (Michael) Wood; his grandchildren, Anthony, Joseph, Melissa, Nathan, Nicolo and Vincenzo Giammarino and Antonio Wood; his sister, Maria Rossoti and many nieces and nephews.
He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend to many. He loved gardening in the summer, making wine in the fall and sharing it with his family and friends. He was a retired member of Bricklayers Local Union #42 and the Albert Torto Construction Company and continued to share his talents with his sons and many other local masons.
Antonio was a long-time member of the Abruzzese Social Club where he loved working their spaghetti dinners and playing cards on Friday nights. He will be missed for his smile and conversations by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stanton and Deb Gibson of Rochester Medical. Also, his home health aides “the girls”. A special thanks to Diane, Judy, and Denise of Wilson Hospital Infusion Center for their many years of caring and kindness.
A funeral mass will be offered by Monsignor John P. Putano on Thursday at 10am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 37 Fayette Street, Binghamton. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-6pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where the members of the Abruzze Social Club will have a service at 5:30pm.
