Richard Stephen (Dick) Kachmarik, age 79, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday morning, August 15, 2022, at his home. He was the epitome of love and devotion to his wife of sixty-one years, Helen Jane (nee Skasko) Kachmarik, to his children, Lorie (Gale) Irland, Richard (Helen) Kachmarik and Susan, to his grandchildren, Katie, Chase and Molly, to his special niece, Kelly and to his extended family.
His devotion showed in the many ways he took care of us through his actions, big and small, and his words. We know that he deeply loved us and was proud of each of us. He was devoted to his job at the Grand Union Company for forty-one years where he worked his way up from a stock clerk to district manager. He was also devoted to God and to his church which he served for many years on the church council and worked at many church activities. He found joy and contentment in the simplest things-watching his beloved Yankees play, playing ipad games, going to the casinos and finding a “good deal” when he shopped. He enjoyed traveling-especially cruises and spending time with his family at Disney's Old Key West Resort.
We will greatly miss his big and generous heart, his warm smile and hugs, his conversations with us, and his sense of humor, he leaves us with priceless memories what we will cherish until we see him again. He joined his daughter, Susan and his parents, Helen and Charles, and his brother, Charles (Chuck) in heaven.
A funeral service will be offered by the Very Rev. Ilya Gotlinsky on Friday at 10am at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter St., Binghamton where the family will receive friends from 9am till the time of the service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
