Joseph Dennison, 90, of Kirkwood, NY passed away peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord to begin his heavenly life on July 14, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Esther and brothers Don & Bernie.
He is survived by Shirley, his loving and devoted wife of 64 years; his children Denise (Steve) Foster, Darrell (Tammy) Dennison and Claudine (Dominick) Allen, grandchildren Melissa, Matt (Staci), Collin, Dom & Jason, sisters Liz (Jim) Florini, Lucille (Tom) Whitty, Geri (Joe) Gilmore.
He is an Army Veteran, who served during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked at Vail Ballou Press and retired after 42 years. While working at Vail Ballou, he created a bowling league that he ran for 19 years, which eventually was named Joe Dennison Classic League, in honor of him. He was a recording secretary of Book Binders Union Local 89 and was an active committee employee at Vail Ballou. Joe was active in his community and was a Kirkwood Youth Little league baseball coach, a member of the Kirkwood Seniors, a member of St. Mary's in Kirkwood, member of American Legion 1645, and an active member of Elks Lodge 70, where he served as Chaplin. He was an avid bowler, Bingo player, and dedicated NY Yankees fan. He will be remembered for having a good sense of humor, even during his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

The family will receive friends at Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home on 326 Prospect St., Binghamton, NY on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, from 5-7pm. On Thursday, July 21st at 10am, a Funeral Mass will be offered by Very Rev. Edward Zandy at St. Mary's Parish Rt. 11 in Kirkwood, followed by committal services with military honors at Chenango Valley Cemetery on Nowlan Road in Binghamton.
