It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John “Kooch” Kucera, Sr., of Johnson City, on Saturday, July 2, 2022, following a brief illness.
He was predeceased by his parents; Alex & Mary Kucera Sr, son; Rick Kucera, his brother & sister-in-law; Alex & Mary Kucera Jr. and two brothers-in-law; Edward Hawley and Robert Severance.
Kooch is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years; Dolores Kucera, children; Jeanne (Sam) Slavik, John Jr. (MaryAnn) Kucera, and Lisa (Mark) Carlin, his grandchildren; Becky (John) Mulroy, Samantha (Trevor) McCloe, Tina Slavik, Michael (Lindsay) Slavik, MacKenzie, and Alyssa & Caitlyn Carlin, his great grandchildren; Anna & John Mulroy and Jack McCloe, his siblings; Anne Hawley, Paul (Sue) Kucera, Bill (Terry) Kucera, his brother-in-law; Ray ( Louise) Severance and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Along with special family friend; Diane Paradiso.
He was a very gifted artist & plaster mason. He loved the NY Yankees, NY Giants, Syracuse Orangeman, Kentucky Wildcats and listening to classical music. He also enjoyed playing the lottery, trips to the casino, telling the funniest jokes and baking the absolute best apple pie!
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to his medical team at Wilson Hospital's NT-3.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Monsignor John P. Putano on Thursday at 10:30am at Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect, Binghamton where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 9am until the time of the Funeral Mass. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
