Julie Zapotocky Korba, 95, of Binghamton, fell asleep in the Lord on, Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Elizabeth Church Manor.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Korba in 2005; her parents, Michael and Mary (Cajko) Zapotocky; her brothers, Michael, John, Peter, Andrew and George and her sisters, Anna, Mary and Helen Zapotocky, Susan Shirhall, and Margaret Starr. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Doug) Tonder of San Antonio, TX; her son, Mark Korba of Endwell; her grandchildren, Andrew Tonder (Kirstie) of Houston, TX; and Larissa (Josh) Reeh of Wylie, TX; her great grandchildren, Hank and Calla Reeh and several nieces and nephews.
Julie was a devoted mother, especially to Mark and a very generous, kind-hearted person. She was a former employee of IBM before she and her late husband, George owned and operated Korba's Restaurant for thirty-five years. She was a past secretary for the Southern Tier Chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association. She was an active member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, teaching Sunday School and assisting with many of their fundraising activities. She was also a member of St. Anne's Guild.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9-10am at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter Street, Binghamton where the Very Rev. Myron Oryhon will offer a funeral service at 10am. Burial will be at Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell.
