Barbara Jane (Koast) Biros 93 years formerly of Vestal and Johnson City fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, January 28, 2022.
Barbara was the daughter of late John and Mary (Macan) Koast of Binghamton, NY.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Stephan Biros, who died February 15, 2011, and her brother Theodore Koast, who passed away October 10,2020.
Barbara was always a kind and caring soul who became a caregiver for many people during her life.
She was dedicated to her Family, her belief in God, and her Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janice Biros of Phoenixville, PA and Susette Biros-Costes of Bedford, NH and their husbands Stephen Hirsch and John G. Costes; and by her brother Edward Koast, age 95.
Barbara – who was known to everyone as 'Baba'-- was especially proud of her grandchildren: Christopher G Costes; Laura Michelle Costes; Matthew Biros Hirsch, M.D.; and Daniel Biros Hirsch, his wife Brittany, and their daughter Millie, Barbara's great-granddaughter.
Barbara is also survived by nieces Cindy (Koast) Matyas, Karen (Koast) Schraff, Linda Koast, and Paulette Moore; nephews Michael and Frank Biros, Jr.; and sister-in-law Theresa Koast.
Barbara was a hard worker and made the most of what she had. She was always well dressed and looked beautiful and made sure her daughters did as well. Barbara was a fine seamstress, and when her daughters were young, she took great pride in making beautiful clothes for them.
She was involved in her daughter's schooling and activities, and was active in the PTA, the Girl Scouts, and Brownies as a leader and volunteer. During Girl Scout Cookie sale season the house was filled with cases of cookies for the troop to deliver.
Barbara was also very active in the Church and participated in the Ladies' Guild, volunteered at the hall for receptions and other events, and volunteered countless hours making pirohi.
Barbara was a dedicated Mother and stayed home until her younger daughter was in 7th grade. She then started to work outside the home, and worked at the Binghamton YMCA and then at United Health Associates Hospital.
She will be welcomed in Heaven by her husband, her brother, and many loved ones who have gone before her. She was a beautiful soul who touched many people with her kindness.
A funeral service will be offered by Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko on Monday, January 7, 2022, at 11am at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends Monday 10am until the time of the service at the church.
