Anatoly "Tony" Bahriak, 66, of Binghamton, New York died after a decade-long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Elizabeth Church Manor.
Tony was born on May 7, 1955, in Venezuela, and lived nearly all his life in Binghamton. He graduated from Binghamton High School in 1974 and retired after 35 years of dedicated service with Time Warner Cable in 2010.
Tony was known for his love of good food, music, motorcycles, and cars. If you stopped by the house on the weekend and he wasn't at the gym, there was a good chance you could find him caring for his cockatiels, tinkering in the garage, or doing any number of outdoor activities that flexed his green thumb. In his younger years, Tony was a daily fixture at the Dunkin Donuts on Main Street in Binghamton where he would meet friends and eventually charm his future wife.
Tony is survived by his wife, Dawn Bahriak; daughters, Danielle (Mike) DePue and Alicia (Erik) Jones; grandchildren, Nathan and Hailey Jones and granddog, Lilly. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Klaudia and Mikola Bahriak; his sister, Anna Bahriak and brother, Walter Bahriak. Tony's humor and calming presence will be fondly remembered by numerous friends and extended family.
A funeral service will be offered by Rev. Father Ivan Synevskyy on Thursday 9:30am at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends from 9-9:30am. Burial will be at the Port Crane Cemetery. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
