John Sam Barna, 84, of Endwell, NY, passed away unexpectantly on Thursday, Sept 23, 2021 at Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Vestal, NY.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Petras Barna, April 20, 1984. His parents, Theresa and Andrew Barna, his brother Andrew Barna, Jr. and sister Anna (Michael) Marusich. He is survived by his wife, Janet Colson Barna, daughters Mary (Timothy) Wheeler, and Carol Jones Boedicker and husband Dave, his sister Theresa (Michael) Serbonich, 6 grandchildren and their spouses and his 6 great grandchildren, along with all his nieces and nephews.

He was an IBM retiree. He also worked as a part time custodian at St. Michael's Church after retirement.

He was a veteran of the Marines in "C" Company, first Battalion. He was a gentle man and a loving husband, Dad and Dede. He loved his family with all his heart and he never met a stranger. He will be so greatly missed.

A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Rev. Nathaniel Choma, Saturday at 10am at St. Michael's Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton. The family will receive friends Saturday 9-10am at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of John can be made to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier located at 212 N. McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760.
